| Development/Construction Process: | The monument is an impressive sculpture of tufa stone and is roughly 15 ft. high. The tufa slab was brought from Armenia. It was sculpted by sculptor-artist Karpoosh Gaspar Qaribian, who is the sculptor of the existing Khachkar in the same church. The artifact consists of patches of historic designs, Armenian symbols, and faces of famous victims of the Genocide. The committee wishes to inscribe more to the current inscription; related to the United Nation's declaration and resolution on the genocide, (re: www.un.org/depts/dhl/resguide/resins.htm) Other options include suitable short quotes from historic documents. They would like to add these quotes to the poetic works from famous Armenian poets, which are being carved on the monument in both Armenian and English. |
