Some of the most alarming cases of hate speech can be found in the addresses and statements of the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev himself – who uses direct hate speech in addressing Armenians and Armenia in general.

Armenians are being regularly compared to uncivilized “barbarians” by him, and even “dogs” [“gyaur”] driven away by the “glorious soldiers of the Azerbaijani army”."
